Hi readers!! Summers are approaching and we naturally tend to consume lots of fluids in summer time as our body looses water in form of sweat. I have seen many of my colleagues consuming lots of cold coffees, sodas and drinks that are full of empty calories. I have compiled this article specifically for the younger generation to help them consciously decide on consuming healthy drinks these summers… Hope, you like it…

1.      Fresh Pomegranate Juice:

There is no need to tell you people that fruit juices are one of the best drink options as it is natural, fresh and preservative free. Pomegranate juice in particular is packed with antioxidants. Antioxidants are the saviours that fight the free radicals produced in our body during various bodily processes. Thus juice is great for fighting signs of ageing, prevention of any type of cancers in body. It may help preventing inflammation and heart diseases.

2.      Yoghurt And Buttermilk:

It provides you a healthy amount of probiotic bacteria that keep your gut healthy and help in improving digestion. When your bowel movements are healthy you stay fresh all day and also have a good skin. To spice up your buttermilk, you can always add spices like a little salt, pepper and crushed Jeera.-As far as yoghurt is concerned, you can make it even tastier by topping it up with some fruits like grapes, berries and mangoes J Yummy!

3.      Beetroot Juice:

This particular juice helps you regulate your blood pressure and also increases your stamina. So, this is a good option for people with long working hours. Also, it has been found to increase blood flow to brain that causes the brain to get stimulated and therefore is good for memory loss and is particularly useful in students and aging individuals.  You can spice it up a bit with salt and pepper.

4.      Lemon Juice:

I can go on and on about this one. You must have heard that juice of half a lemon in warm water every morning is the best detox drink. Well yes, it is. You may also add a bit of honey in this.-Lemons is a rich source of vitamin C . This Acid helps in conversion of Procollagen to collagen. Collagen fibres act as the glue of your body. It helps keep your skin elastic. It also helps maintain the health or your gums and also is essential for healthy joints. Also, this drink helps maintain a healthy immune system. So, do not skip this one.

  • Berry shake:  most of the berries such as strawberries,Indian blackberry,  raspberries, blueberry, or even Jamuns are filles with antioxidants. Anti oxidants plays a vital role especially with the anti ageing problems. During many metabolic processes of your body, various free radicals tend to get manufactured. The free radicals produce can damage & cause problems in the body and your skin. Anti oxidants are useful to kill these free radicals and protect from the damage. Berries are very stimulating to taste buds too…are not they? I love the smell of strawberries too.
  • Banana Shake: This fruit is rich in Potassium that keeps in keeping your skin cells hydrated. Banana is packed with good amounts of Vitamin A and Vitamin B of certain kinds. These help to maintain a glowing and healthy skin and also act as mild anti ageing agents. Vitamin E in banana is an anti oxidant that combats the skin damage caused by free radicals.

Milk of course, is a healthy boost of calcium. If you want this shake to get even healthier then use Soya milk.

6.      Coconut Water:

Coconut water is rich in natural sugars, electrolytes and minerals. Its concentration is similar to those found in the human plasma so, it is good for regulating blood pressure and in turn, good for heart. Coconuts have enzymes called cytokinins that have anti aging, anti cancer effects. It is essentially, fat free and has zero cholesterol. So, it’s a really great drink for people with heart ailments. Also, it helps in correction of lipid profile as per some studies by increasing the HDL levels in the body. It also has good amounts of potassium.

7.      Green Tea Lemonade:

I have already described the goodness of lemons. About Green tea there is so much to say. Again due to anti oxidants, it is good for anti ageing and preventing development of cancers in body. It helps in controlling type 2 diabetes and heart diseases too. Also, it is a great option for people who are trying to shed those extra kilos.

Sip on the juice of some freshly juiced veggies like carrots, cucumbers and bottle guards. These veggies are great for skin and overall health. The best part is these juices are more or less bland and can be modified as per your taste with spices. These are best consumed chilled and you can add some mint leaves for that extra dose of freshness. These juices are a great option for people trying to lose weight too. Carrots in particular are high in retinols and hence give an additional benefit of good eyesight. Juicing various kinds of vegetables together helps in regulating bowel movements and reducing inflammation too.

9.      Cool Kesar Badam Milk:

While, kesar imparts the beautiful golden colour and awesome flavour Almonds are the healthy ingredient here. The high fiber content in almonds imparts them with their probiotic properties, which contributes to health of gastrointestinal tract. Also, almonds make you feel fuller due to high fibre content along with good amounts of proteins. Almonds also block body’s absorption of empty calories making them a healthy snack for those trying to loose weight. Almonds are rich in Magnesium that helps in combating high blood pressure and hence preventing heart attacks. Also, almonds help in maintaining healthy cholesterol levels. Just soak some almonds in water overnight and grind them in morning. Boil in sweetened milk containing kesar. Serve chilled with Pista garnishing.
